Why I hate IPL

India vs Pakistan
India vs Australia
Australia vs England

I really dig into cricket matches like these. Now, on the other side

Hyd  vs Mumbai
Pune vs Punjab
Kochi vs Chennai

Nope..i am not comparing the industrial growth between the two states, but talking cricket mates. Now its not the typical ranji or any other domestic cricket tournament ,but its called the IPL.

I am beginning to hate the ipl...and i got my own reasons. When it started IPL caught my attention as i was a)a cricket fanatic b)a cricket fanatic.

But now, it’s really pissing me off because of certain things...first the commentary..i mean what happened to all the cricket talk man..even Harsha Bhogle talks more about the cheerleaders than Navjot Sidhu. I get it when Sidhu speaks of  chics coz..well..thats sidhu..what else can he speak about other than those ugly ass proverbs.

Also certain terminology in the IPL amuses me...i mean generally, when a batsmen hits a six,its either a six or half a dozen or something of that sort..what the hell is a DLF’er man(i know why you call it, but doesn’t sound good at all).If you take a blinder its a karbonn kamaaal catch..karbonn my ass.

If i see Dale styen bowling to Tendulkar, whom do i cheer for??Dale steyn for playing for Hyd??or Sachin who is playing for Mumbai? I am caught up in this shit and i realised that a game can reduce boundaries between the players, but can never make you forget where you are from. Once Indian, always Indian.

Another thing...why would i want to listen to some player who’s connected to a mic. I mean thats what you do post match right. Seriously, i think they should ban that. The players have enough distractions in the form of cheerleaders and all the celebrities and to top that you got Danny Morrison buzzing through the mic asking the player about his wife or what not....Fuck that.

And why the hell you need a strategic time out? the game is already short. And you keep a two n half minute break. What for?? So that the cheerleaders can try giving boners to the crowd in that bit? I mean wtf man. Its jus a 20 over per side game.

Look,i remember i used to wakeup at 5am early morning just to watch the ashes. That to me was cricket.IPL has become too commercial for my liking. I mean money is ruining the sport. And i don’t want the situation where i cheer for Sangakarra or pray for Symonds. Seriously, thats like praying for your neighbours kid, rather than yours. I admire them as cricketers, but the fanatic in me cant pray for them.

Thats about it.

NFS(NEED FOR SUBJECTS)

Did you ever feel when you were a student and when you were learning a subject, how it would help you in your life? When i was in school i thought of it once, but it was about topping in the marks instead those days. So i left the thought of knowing the practical importance of the subject and focussed on the marks instead.

Time flew. Was in my PG now. And the same old thoughts revived when i saw and when we were being teached some subjects in my MBA. It was not about marks for me this time around. How helpful are these subjects to me in my life? Let me talk about a few of them.

We had a subject called business ethics. Do we really need to know about business ethics? Definitely one needs to know the aspect of business ethics, but do you need a subject on this??When you go for a job and you start working, and in the process you find that to achieve the organisations goals, you need to do something unethical, are you going to fight against it? i don’t think anybody’s got the balls to do that. Or you could quit the job. If you do that, you’ll keep on quitting. I found it tough to interpret as of where am i going to use business ethics in my life. One thing i know is that you could persuade or convince the management in achieving your career goals, but you can’t mess around with the organisations goals(ethical or unethical).

Also i find it interesting about how you measure the outcome or the output of the subject. Would it be by the marks that one achieves? Hope not. But sadly lots of post grad’s wannabe’s still crave for the marks that they get. They may deny it, but that’s the beauty of life. Everybody loves to live in denial. I’ve seen dudes cry about their grades, and that to me was funny as shit.

Anyway i have come across some subjects during my post grad that i feel are just worth knowing, and don’t really see the need to go in depths. Consider this “written and oral communication”. Do you need a three months of brain wash on this? I mean its allright to just brush up your learning’s on subjects like these, but as a subject! HELL NO. When you have entered into a professional degree like an MBA, i honestly expect you  know how to type an email or a memo. Come on man, you don’t need a subject for this. You could maybe just take up a session for this, but you need not dedicate three months of your valuable time in learning to type a memo.

I feel that the shortage of professional teachers is making it much simpler for universities in the choosing of subjects. I mean how knowledgeable one has to be in teaching oral skills? Do you need a PH.D for this? look, not all would like what i am saying, but that’s the way it is. I am not an expert in these subjects as well, but i know enough to get along. I see subjects like operations and feel why don’t they have more subjects like these? And i get to know that you can brag about oral skills, but you need guys with brains and practical exposure to teach those kind of subjects. And that is a tough and tiring combination for the management to find. So why bother, let us think of having oral skills-volume 2 instead...fuck man.

Now the universities may again realize the importance of subjects like operations and may introduce it as a new specialisation. But would that be enough. Can you get the expert teachers? I mean what’s the point in having a Ferrari why you can’t drive it? You give it to someone that drove an ambassador all his life, he’s going to do some killing on the streets with that Ferrari. So better save people than killing them. Don’t put up specialisations, just for namesake. If you don’t have the faculty, don’t bother putting the subject.

That’s about it.

Price of Entertainment

It was a tiring day,so i switched on the TV for some entertainment. My default favorites begin with sports. Here's how the viewing went.

Began with Ten Sports-------was playing football---not interested
(flipped)
Star Cricket--------was playing India's moment of glory...the1983 World cup Victors rewind....Nice,but i've seen it like a dozen times already...boring
(flipped)
NEO Cricket--------Interview with Piyush  Chawla----dude,you need to play more and talk less----channel change

The next couple of channels had some ad's going.Just as any other good citizen of india,i flipped the channels with ad's.

Right...Done with sports..nothing interesting..Let me hear some good music i thought.

Began with MTV----and i dont hear music. I hear something else...i see and hear profanity...well i'l call it almost profanity---courtesy MTV Roadies----one thing about profanity---I LOVE IT(UNCENSORED)
(flipped)
As usual, fate has decided to let me have some more ad's.I thought maybe i will defy the laws of flipping ad's and actually watch one.

Asian paints with saif ali khan doing some painting...naah,boring...micromax with akshay...didn't feel like watching them at all.I realised i wasn't cut to watch routine ad's.
(flipped)
Had some telugu music channel----an overweight anchor was chatting with the caller about the callers love life---play some music dumb bitch

Desi music channels suck i thought.Let me heat some english music

Put on VH1-----just my luck----had some trendy ass program where dudes are supposed to impress chics with pick up lines(keys to the vip)-----jeez man..i just want to hear some music.

Ok,i dint even bother to try other music channels.
Let me watch some news.Get to know whats happening around and the country better.

Started with NDTV-----some interview with a movie star---hmm,good channel but the wrong program..boring
Times now----A heated group discussion with some politicians----I hate argumentative GD's.....next
News9------Is the Makara jyoti real----a 30 minute socio fantasy movie with great dialogues and whatnot----no thanks
Tv9---Do i need to tell more----next
Ntv---Jagan the best----next
Etv2---Naidu the best----next
Sakshi---Jagan the best of the best----my fingers pain

What actually began as to watch something sensible of my liking, did not go the way i wanted to.Fuck..Ok,cool,i thought and then i told myself again....just my bad luck.Let me be patient and flip through the channels again.

Begin with Ten Sports-----

Power gone.

Thats it.Bloody fuck.....And after cursing my luck for some time,i again told to myself....

I am just the wrong dude,at the wrong place, expecting all the right shit to happen at the wrong time.:)

Thats about it.

Group Discussions

There are times when we hear something,or remember something, and we smile. It could be anything. When i hear or remember russel peters,i smile. When i hear politicians demanding the names of black money culprits..you know,it makes me smile.Similar the case when i hear the word "group discussions"..

Damn it makes me smile or what ;). And when i say GD's,it could mean the GD's conducted in colleges for recruitment,or the shows like the "big fight" and shit like that. For time being, lets just see into the GD's conducted by companies during the process of selection.

Now i am not saying everyone are the same, but most of the companies are the same when it comes to picking people in GD's. You got to be good at initiating, you got to take lead, you need to be good at this and that blah blah blah.

I was in a GD,conducted by a reputed MNC,who gave a case, which had a cluster of famous people(in the case that is),like a doctor, engineer, astronaut, student, politician etc etc.All these assholes were supposedly very fair, ethical and have contributed towards the development of the society.Well the student was also a bright guy with outstanding acads and shit. Now all these assholes were in a plane together which was about to crash and there's just one parachute that can be used to save just one ass. Whom would you possibly save and why was what the case was all about.

Personally,i hated this case.It didn't make me sense to me.I was smiling within myself but not showing it on the outerside. Here you have all nice guys stuck in one plane, and you had to save one.Well i say, throw the parachute out and let all the fuckers die.I know that they did not willingly board that plane to crash themselves, but if this situation were real,i know none of those dudes would be willing to save the other risking their lives. What made me say that..hmmm lets think..its a hypothetical situation right,so i can say whatever the fuck i want to,or better...its my blog..so suck it.

Anyway,I couldn't say this because just like all of them,i was a poser too.Even i went saying i would save the student, not because i wanted to save him,but only coz i was like everybody else in the group trying my luck.I know even the others would have felt the same way.No problem.

Now,again,a purely hypothetical situation, agreed.Maybe this is what it takes to be in the corporate(and i pity if this is what it takes to be in a corporate). You know you had to take a stand and speak up so that companies could analyze your communication skills, your ability to adapt in a do or die situation like this. So here we had people starting up saying that they are going to save this guy, that guy etc etc.Now here's some points for you.If people think that factors like initiation,or giving the other guy a chance to speak,or concluding, or any other accessory shit like this displays leadership qualities, then i think you are a douche.

There were times in GD's when me and most of my friends laughed and laughed talking through the GD,post GD.I seen people "giving the chance" for other's to speak during GD's.I was personally a victim of such situation. Its not that i couldn't speak, its only that i didn't want to.Well, thank you asshole for showing such care for me,was what i felt. And conclusions, wow,i seen people giving multiple conclusions.A movie has one ending,a game has one ending. But GD's that i have seen had two three or more conclusions. One guy says "we can conclude by saying blah blah blah",the other one doesnt want to feel left out,so he says"adding to your conclusion,i am concluding blah blah blah",adding to his conclusion blah blah blah...and adding to all their conclusions i was thinking  "fuking stop it man".

People argue and argue and argue, and here i was watching the big fight live in front of me.Arguments lead to multiple conclusions like the above. You think you won,but you also left yourself a spot in my blog.Yeah, good job asshole.

Do speak, but speak sense...and i wish GD's were more realistic. Not cases like whether corruption could be eliminated in India or Cricket should be banned in India.I know they will not happen and i hate time being wasted among people discussing shit like these, just because you could analyze peoples thinking or communication skills.

Thats about it.
